Location

It is located in the Central Province of Kenya, Kiambu county, Gatundu North District, Kamwangi Division, Gituamba Location. It caters for children with intellectual challenges. It’s about 35km West of Thika town.

SCHOOL OBJECTIVES

The school’s main objectives are to enable learners to access functional education, vocational training, social inclusion and participation in community affairs.

FUNDING

The school receives funding from:
-Government (grant in aid/ food & rationing)
-School fees from parents
-Donors

The funding from Government and school fees is inadequate and the school is largely dependent on Donor Funding. Donations are given either in Cash or in Kind.

CHALLENGES

The school lacks many fundamental facilities like;
-Vocational training materials like timber, metal bars and sheets, cloth, embroidery threads, wool and food staff for homes science classes
-physical structures like classes, office, stores, sheltered workshop for both woodwork
and metalwork
-office equipment like computers, photocopiers and printers
-means of transport (no school van or bus)
-medical services (no nurse or dispensary)
-inadequate land for farming

SCHOOL’S ACTION PLAN

-Construction of a dormitory to give way to a sheltered workshop. (boys sleep in the 8-4-4 workshop)
-renting of land for growing pineapples and fodder crop to enable daily farming
-purchasing of a school van
-expansion of the poultry project
- construction of administration block and classes
-purchasing office equipment
